Surprise of the goddess
by Tim Kavi
the goddess looked
with intrigue
in her eyes
in the gentle pose
before her lover
he found a surprise
a love that spoke truth
and never lies!
a man of words
yet, the poet cries!
in the world
for justice
and healing
this is
what her love said
with feeling!
I care for my family!
and they care for me
my family needs me
and they taught me this love!
until the sands blow away
and the oceans crash waves
across time, goddess
I see in your love,
the earth's hope
the birth of cute babies
beaming smiles
on a husband's face
while you are all
everywhere in the place
Goddess filling the room
with power
as moms and wives
do every hour
never getting thanked
or praised for
yet always loving,
and that's for sure!
The poet approaches YOU in meeting* (see Martin Buber) and says: I LOVE YOU WITH A STRONG LOVE THAT NEVER FALTERS...
Poet's afterword: the poet discovers the goddess everywhere revealed, This poem follows the distinction, previously made, 'Goddess' with a large 'G' is the archetypal Goddess that informs myth, while 'goddess' with a small 'g' is the local goddess, a specific woman he has in mind when drafting this poem, which is rightfully dedicated to her with a strong love. In the reader's case, your goddess may be represented by yourself, or a man's goddess, the one he loves, who includes a wife or other feminine role of power in his life, one who deserves to be appreciated and might even sometimes be overlooked. *The term meeting here, is from Martin Buber's philosophy and it indicates a special event or encounter that happens by grace when two persons approach each other in genuine dialogue.~~TK
