Consolations: Songs of Grief Surprised by Life and Love (new poem)

Consolations: Songs of Grief Surprised by Life and Love
by Tim Kavi

in the consolations
of the dearly departed
there are the memories
of sad longing songs

Oh! To find each other again!

but high up in the arms
a grand scheme
are the absent ones
come again
to comfort us
in the sweet compositions
of enduring love.

I grieve the colors
of my parents
my childhood
my wandering youth

always the others too

in the approaching grays
a sunset
where in the horizon--I see appearing
love
in the face of my true love
mine and ours --
the kids
and the everlasting
dialogue of all my teachers
and friends.

ashes beneath the boots (new poem)

ashes beneath the boots
by Tim Kavi

marching triumphant
fists in air
you take the hill
overrun the square
but in your heart
is a vacant stare

You dismember
yourself
unmoved by human
compassion

there is only
your training
reduced to a number
your uniform
makes you look like
all the rest

you think you are
anonymous
so easily forgiven?
that only you will be blest?

that face shield
doesn't hide you
full metal jacket
you better carry
a long club

because someday
you will reap what you sow
brutal taskmaster

on the day
Freedom Rings
when the freed man sings
when women walk
the streets
no longer afraid

when you
and the hate of the old
ways are crumbled
stomped beneath our feet
as we peacefully walk
the freshly cleaned street

beneath my boots
I still see that You
who said I was not a person
has become all the ashes
of a history not forgotten

while up ahead
precious souls
you once tormented
are dancing

in peace, at long last
in love with each other
and so very free.

Poet's Afterword:  another poem of protest which will be in my forthcoming collection 'Poems of Protest' by Tim Kavi. Long live freedom and love! ~~TK

My Short Story 'American Crow' is Published

My Short Story: American Crow has been published by TiLu Press and is available for Kindle and Kindle apps by clicking on the link below.

I hope you enjoy this story, that I enjoyed writing and getting ready for you. I think it is an interesting 'Fairy Tale of Urban Decay' that describes events that transpire when two older men encounter two young thugs on a repeated basis. Among the mayhem and Chaos, BillyBob, a seemingly omniscient black crow looks upon the events with great interest. The result is a song of redemption that only he can sing!

Called Out (To Be a Friend) (New Poem)

Called Out (To Be a Friend)
by Tim Kavi

you are the breeze to my thirsty spirit,
my soul in a time of chaos and world mistrust,
my center in atrophy
You quiet my storms at night.

in the soul of friendship
I say Thou to you
and in the liberating dancing spirit of love
I dance with you on the clouds of love.

together we paint pictures of love
sing songs of freedom's acceptance
Yes, for we accept each other as who we truly are.

In the loving arms of two souls
that call each other deepest friends
there is both a seeking
for each other's face again
and a finding in the joyful reunions
of touching each other's lives

and in that bond
there is the bond of spirit to spirit
I am called to love
I am called out to utter abandon
even on the narrow ridge.

with you

there is the call to dialogue
and the inescapable joyful capacity to love
there is only the acceptance
of whoever You are.

presence (reposted poem) to all my friends: new and old

presence (a repost)
(to all my friends, new and old, especially the new ones)
by Tim Kavi

dancing beings
find each other
across many
lifetimes again
and again

why do they
find each other
sharpen each other
recoqnize each other
at such a time as then?

some flee again
as in great flight
some struggle
potential clashes
in a great fight

others turn softly
yet in might
urgency

heart to heart
there is a turning
a yearning
to know all
about the One

that you see
for the first time
there is a calling
to know

a setting sun
in the glance
of smiles
as the night
of mystery is begun

revealing
each other
taught by experience
what this life
might be

but when
the seeking ones
find each other
there is a shining oneness

that lights
the unconscious
night
shadows play
until real is seen

and at last
in dialogical meeting
a You is glimpsed

a Holy Presence
You are the
chrysalis emerged

in the glistening
mutual love
of You and me.
