Valentine's Day Special: Love Among the Ruins Poetry Reading Video
Happy Valentine's Day! Many of my poems are love poems that speak across different domains of love. This spiritual love poem pays respect to the archetypal goddess! In "Love Among the Ruins" we have a poem excerpted from one of my collections, performed by yours truly, in an outtake from the forthcoming film "Kup of Kavi." The Hindu term 'Hai' used in the poem is an invocation and calling to attention. Enjoy! ~~TK

Shooting is Nearing Conclusion on "Kup of Kavi" starring Tim Kavi
![]() |
| Kavi on the set of Kup of Kavi in Rehearsal |
Yes, yours truly is being filmed in a documentary-type film that also has comedic elements. I'll be in costume as Kavi the Cowboy, Kavi the retro performer, and Tim Kavi the poet, reading some of my poetry, doing freestyle poems, and spouting mystical jabber!
The shoot has been going on for a couple of weeks now, and it is set to conclude on Saturday, Nov. 12th when we will finish filming on location. It has been a nerve-wracking, yet very fun, experience! Hope you will enjoy the small film when it comes out. Thanks to TiLu Press, TiLu Film, and Director Ben Lee for making KUP OF KAVI happen. Thanks to the entire crew!
Outtakes from Kup of Kavi the Movie--will also be coming soon! ~~TK

Tim Kavi's Poetry Collection, Lost Love Poems has just NOW been published in paperback!
One of the formats I use to write poems has to do with love poems. Of course, there are various types of love poems. There are different levels of devotion and different kinds of love, and this collection looks at these themes and more. In this collection, we have poems about loss, lost love, unreturned love, and unrequited love. This unique collection is dedicated to everyone who has ever lost a love, tried to make love happen, or continue, or have loved when it was never returned. It also encourages us to have the courage to love again! Previously and still available as an Ebook, this collection has just NOW been published in paperback! You can get the paperback edition of LOST LOVE POEMS by clicking here. Happy reading and thanks for supporting my work!~~TK

Love's DNA (resequenced)
Love's DNA (Resequenced)
by Tim Kavi
Infinite loves are bent
in the lasting helix
that becomes a model
of coded instructions
for the complexities
of yet more designs
in loves that speak
to another kind
of bonded pair
there in our love
is Nature's schooling
natural selection
destiny's not fooling
twisting purpose
there is no drifting
as variations mutate
and plans unfold
across populated history
for as long
as poems and songs
and novels and stories
have been told
there is the power
of love
to code itself and
rebuild itself
again and again
found when sought
this is the love
that flows
in the between
in the meeting
of person to person
the memories
of the whole
human race
that ancients knew
and sang about
wrote about
what scheme is this
what perchance to dream
as biology's revealing
of something much
deeper; is yet
discovered in some scheme
still destined
in the human heart's will
the code beats
to love; to say
to utter
beauty and true
words with power
that say:
I love you!
writer's afterword--this is an edited (excuse the pun), updated, and resequenced (excuse another pun) poem; shared today for Valentine's Day 2019. Wishing you happiness, ~~TK

A-musing Wisecracks Across the Mind (poem)
A-musing Wisecracks Across the Mind (poem)
by Tim Kavi
watching out eight ways to beat
up around the bend
the shuffling of feet
Terpsichore moves so sweet
moving in dialectical ways
hegel and Marx wink wink
Linehan too; what's my storied days
basking in Clio's sunny rays
what's the rub; long tales at night
Ode to all longly said
grinning, bringing the light
Calliope eats a cantaloupe; such a sight
consuming me; love's sting
staying awake is no worry
linger long, no hurry, ring ring
with Eratos, love's the thing
A-musing laughing goddesses
dance across gardens
bulls in China shop hippotamuses
advocate very deep hypotheses (sic)
incorporating movements of verse
song and dance; cutting glass
poetry in planetary motions reverse
fading history finds it all the worse
until she dabs my feverish head.

Remembered Space (New Poem)
Remembered Space
by Tim Kavi
lush overgrowth
showing empowering design
such wisdom
yet some say
it's always overrated
but love grows
to meet us in every
esteemed face
across every landscape
of doom and grace
it is everywhere
every space
and in every place
reflecting rays of light
in my remembered windows
of dreamy night
where I am struck
by the moonlit beauty
echoed in her embrace
Her many stories
are told, traversed
again and again
a resounding crescendo
in the universal page
she is written
in the paths
of the wind
touched
by every artist's
gardened, skillful
round shapes
My love is full of it;
I saw it in her
gathered lace
And revealed ever
in the lit bed
of her remembered kiss
I am left wandering
the maze
of brilliant memories
across remembered space.

Long Flight of the Arrow (new poem)
Long Flight of the Arrow
by Tim Kavi
some say they
are desperately seeking
searching like ghosts
master archeologists
among the dust
of ancient landscapes
others are explorers
of every geology
across their paths
but cannot find
the missing Shangri-la
of the utopian plateau
there are the dreamers
the poets
the undying singers
playing lived out melodies
on the shipwrecks of love
and the injustice of it all
but the long flight
of the arrow
finds them anyway
and because it is Cupid's
arrow; all those
missing arms of embrace
find their human place.

gentle raindrops (new poem)
gentle raindrops
by tim kavi
gentle raindrops fall softly
across glistening green skin
We and Nature
heartbeats as one
in the dawning sun
steam rises from the Earth
plantings of our love everywhere
gentle shoulders slope
of what tomorrow brings
in mountains of hope
in the passion of longing
love buds anew
while songs of birds flew
among the shadowed rocks
where there is only
the whisper of our kiss
enduring forever
the stream of love
and time carries on.

eyes of the Dancing Woman (new poem)
eyes of the Dancing Woman
by Tim Kavi
enchantress, your eyes
catch me in moonlight
gentle orb
dancing there
sweet boundless moves
love is in the air
they flutter
bending me into
other dimensions
of divine light
eyelids blinking
wide awake in Night
the gentle rapture
of passion's drawing
song; sings heavenly
movements of power
where from afar
I know not the hour
I dared to look
into your Divine Soul
I am your sacred viewer
and saw your all
as your steps lit
the sacred hall
some say they were
smitten by a dancing
kitten; made perfect
in love hypnotized
not realizing your Greatness
had already mesmerized
I remember; your look
while your body below
contorted; in Divine
dancing soul
candle light romancing
glow; lit my heart whole
until I knew
all was undone
and uncovered
I cannot bear this alone
my love's secret
is in your dancing home.

Valentine's Day 2013--Why I Love You So (poem)
Why I Love You So
by Tim Kavi
sitting near your feet
I heard you singing
a love song
along with the radio
so sweet
my happy eyes
misted
with joy
at the love you have
for your happy boy
all day long
I look up at you
and hear the notes
of your love
washing everything
away
all my sadness
sorrow is gone
because of
your happy tone
and then
just when I think
I am alone
you sing again
the happy songs
and I see you
smile and I know
why I love you so.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL !

FREE Giveaway, Book Announcements, & Special Promotion Announcement (Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE: Posting 8)
A Valentine's Day Gift for my Readers: FREE Giveaway of a Tim Kavi Short Story; Book Announcements; & Special Promotion Announcement
by Tim Kavi
My Valentines Be Mine for Nine continues with a giveaway, book news, and announcement of a special promotion. I would like to do something to help spread the messages of love, poetry, hope, and empowerment.
FREE SHORT STORY by Tim Kavi
First of all, I am announcing and offering for the first time, the availability of my short story--American Crow for FREE. It will be FREE from this day forward and available for download by clicking the cover image on the left margin of this blog--just look for the blue book cover with the big black crow on it about three quarters of the way down the page. Of course, you can also click here to get the FREE Smashwords version which should offer a file that works for almost ALL eReaders, apps, online reading, text, and even offers a PDF version which most can read with Adobe Digital Reader or a simple PDF reader. Note that Smashwords also offers a FREE Kindle version which is the MOBI file. Also, as of today, Kobo Books is also offering a FREE version of this short story and you can get that by clicking here for the Kobo Books version.
I hope you enjoy this FREE short story. The past two days I have been blogging about the special love of family. And this short story certainly talks about the love of families, in this case about two young men who have joined a gang, in a sense looking for love and belonging, and seeking fatherly love. Here's the description: as a short story, American Crow is a Fairy Tale of Urban Decay that describes events that transpire when two older men encounter two young thugs on a repeated basis. The result is comedic mayhem and Chaos, where BillyBob, a seemingly omniscient black crow looks upon events with great interest. In the end, it's a song of redemption that only he can sing! Because of the setting of the story, it is rated R for profanity and violence.
SPECIAL BOOK ANNOUNCEMENTS
Lost Love Poems---just in time for Valentine's Day I am happy to announce that this collection of love poems, poems about lost love, has just been published today by Barnes & Noble in an eBook NOOK edition. You can click here to go to the web page to order that edition. This book was also recently published by Smashwords (with all its versions) which transcended it's initial offering at Amazon which still has the Kindle edition. I never formally announced this title's wider availability until today. You can click the links just preceding in this paragraph. Or find the Pink cover on the left side margin and click on those links. Thank you for your support!
Ascending Goddess---this title is available all over the web at most eBook retailers, and I have not until today, formally announced that in this blog, as per its availability at iTunes (the Apple Bookstore), Kobo Books, or Diesel eBooks. This title is also recently offered by Barnes & Noble for their eReader--the NOOK. Finally, the book has been available at Smashwords and Amazon still carries it for the Kindle Edition. Look for the buttons under the Ascending Goddess eBook cover on the left margin (showing holy mountain Kailash) or the links in the just preceding text. Thanks!
Emerging Goddess--my first collection is still only offered as a Kindle Edition through Amazon. This is because I have been participating in giveaways every few months through their KDP select program. Nevertheless, that exclusivity will end shortly, and the book will become available at Smashwords and all the other platforms. Thank u u u !
NOTE: All of these titles will be published on Google Play, other eBook platforms, and regional mobile phone eBook platforms in specific countries--such as India. I am happy to say that print editions for all these titles are still scheduled for publication, those are just taking a short while longer.
I would like to thank all of my blog readers and those that have purchased my work--with that in mind let me tell you about...
A SPECIAL PROMOTION TO MY READERS (and those who have purchased my eBooks):
Coming very soon I will be making a very special announcement here in this blog and providing a link to a page on my home web page www.timkavipoet.com---where those who have purchased any of my eBooks will be entered into a random drawing to win a special prize. So save those email receipts showing you bought one of my books!! For any readers (up to the first 25) who buy all three of my current eBook collections (or make an equivalent donation at the web page) they will receive the prize automatically. (Also ten lucky random blog commenters will be entered into the drawings also-- and that requires no purchase!) THE PRIZE: a custom written, original, love poem written by Tim Kavi (that's me) just for you and intended for any person you specify!!!
A VERY SPECIAL THANKS FROM TIM KAVI !!! With Love~~TK

'I Know You...Hand in Hand' (new anniversary poem) (Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE Posting 5)
I love You Hand in Hand (new poem)
和老婆手牵手
by Tim Kavi
special times
are these
moments in a history
that flies past
that says
I love you!
each to the other
from their heart
as that love
is the language
of all words expressed
in the fast lanes
of modern life
as we hold onto something
each other
sometimes that richness
is all we've got
but what richness!
precious find
true gold rush
those that truly love
that love would bring
one from two families
two worlds apart
even across the universe
to join
hand in hand
that looking back now
there is still
the joys of discovery
as we see each other
eye to eye
hearts beat
next to each other
in the living security
of all that is
lived out
hand in hand
gentle whispers
may make the moment
seem less sensational
than it is
but in those whispers
are mighty shouts
declarations of love
that say
I know you!
I love you!
hand in hand
that is the
eternal bread
the lasting truth
and the destined
determination to love
to say
we will turn again
to each other
facing all this life
is;
hand in hand.
Poet's Afterword: Posting 5 in my VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE---is a special anniversary poem. And today (Feb. 9th) is the actual anniversary for two very special people. Now, the Chinese have a very special concept that symbolizes the union between two people in love, and this is often stated in English as 'hand in hand'. In this case, the narrator of the poem is specifically the husband to the wife; hence the special 'hand in hand' designation towards the wife-- 和老婆手牵手 .

'Two Hearts Carried' (New Poem) (Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE! Posting 3)
Two Hearts Carried
by Tim Kavi
sometimes love
is such a hasty reaction
that it seems
two hearts
were carried with the wind
Yet there in the mercy
of dialectic's unfolding
there is a settling
in the nest
of some high cliff
where lovers belong
after an act of great love
as sometimes
it was a wind
borne by the very breath
of love itself
and sometimes
there is no understanding
even among the wisest
as to what love has done
or what has been done
in the name of love
of what legends love has brung
there is always the otherwise
of love's surprise
do not throw yourself
young lovers
nor off the cliffs be flung
but carry each other
up higher on the wings of love
turn to each other
again and again
climb up higher
as your ladder of love
has another rung
sometimes one
will carry both hearts
with such care
sometimes the other
will be made alive
bravely to love
to look again
at the new place of love
for your might
has this time
brought you there
for in your nest
let there be no night
but only a teaching
lessons for each other
on the next stages of flight
navigation!
no leveling I say
fly again
fly again
break up the hardened ground
plant your seeds of love
while in that lofty place
let it stand and grow
for two hearts were carried
by destiny's throw
into the unknown
borne by the wind
of love
carried with grace
two carried hearts
always come again
to the nest of love.
Poet's Afterword: Posting #3 of Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE is a special new love poem. It's a poem that tells us that sometimes love responds to all of Nature, and sometimes it is born of struggle but always it is the carrying of two hearts...to each other and by each other. ~~TK

At a Moroccan Wedding (wedding poem) (Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE! Posting 2)
At a Moroccan Wedding
by Tim Kavi
happy couples
inspire us all
to seize love
face love
in it be tall
and when moments
like this
reward that search
we know
we have loved
powerfully
strongly
and made history
so made brave
by our love
we confidently
face life
together as
husband and wife!
Poet's Afterword: In posting #2 we have a special wedding poem (short but sweet) for a special pair of friends of mine. So to Judy and Abderrahim, I wish you continued happiness in the power of love. You are not only a muse, but a great blessing over the years. You guys have been reading my poems for over six years! And I am so inspired by your great love for each other. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO EVERYONE~~TK

Goddess in Motion Redux--Part III (poem)
Goddess in Motion Redux--Part III*
by Tim Kavi
walking down
the wooded plain
country road
your music never stops
I am humming
along with the birds
but then
a hushed silence
this time, greets me
I wanted to run
to meet you
but was constrained
held back by my pride
I felt ready to burst
to run to meet you
to fall on my knees
you were walking
towards me
I was watching you move
totally hypnotized
I saw you as the statue
in every garden
the ones that are Goddesses
fully in view
then I realized
Goddess in Motion
your swaying hips
meant I needed
no love potion
there was only the drunkenness
of your love
that met me with aged
expressions of pleasure
your singing smile
meant
I needed no musical note
to hold you in my sight
a beautiful vote
of affirmation
in the Spring times
of your bliss
there is only the wine
of your lasting kiss
for Goddess in motion
you are my morning delight
when your dress moves
in the wind
it still covers
all of you
when upon gentle revealing
I saw Aphrodite's undoing
stare; not concealing
one moment of your prayer
for it falls to the wooded floor
only with your permission
our sweet love
is my mission
a persistence of vision
in a valley of despair
a journey of hope
longed for destination
Goddess in motion
you walk like a dance
of great skill
a fresh romance
of freedom's will
to test every fiber
of my mind, soul, and being
that shouts fidelity
to your love's scheming
to turn to each other
in the birdsong filled
forest
our love is true
and ever dreaming
for this is only a timeline
twill soon be over
this one life is not enough
to praise your Goddess stuff
Goddess in motion
I need no love potion
to see
you are the sweetest
If love is ever to do
it must be with You
for 'tis a mystery solved
the attainment
of what many seek
Goddess in motion
Nature holds you in sacred view!
*Poet's Afterword: The original version of this poem was written in 2009. Original Version is Here. From time to time, I add to it with new stanzas and feelings of devotion. This time, in the new Part III, I have added new stanzas between the stanzas of the original poem. The image here is 'Swirl of the Skirts' by Sushobha Jenner. Hope you enjoy it!~~TK

Too Many Words (New Poem)
Too Many Words
by Tim Kavi
there are too many words
in space
and not enough meaning
even if I dreamed them
every night
I cannot find them
for I cannot find you
my love
my delight
it has become dark night
coldness is wrapped
around my soul
like a blanket
and it won't let me go
my fears threaten
to consume me
but this is only my mind
when all around me
is the dying of light
the coming of night
is when shadows become immersed
in the dark
lonely songs I cannot bear
I awake
to face the coldest morning
snow has fallen
everywhere
fluttering eyes
open, I am
to wonder, rub eyes
to stare
see you there
I see all is beauty
in the woman
standing there
and the words
that had slowed like Winter
flowed in the promise
that if I kept speaking
kept writing
Spring will come there
in the hearts
of two
the glories of rebirth
as all the words
of love flow
while outside the snow
falls anew.

Seasons of Love (New Poem)
Seasons of Love
by Tim Kavi
snowflakes are the words
dropping from your lips
hanging in the cold air
your love warms
that space of Winter's kiss
burns hot like fire
verses spoken in love
never go out
your beauty
is like the dancing goddess
of spring
that brings life
your beauties revealed
like the manifest
unfurled creation of all that is
new
how can I escape the passion
and heat of your summer's love?
but I seek no shade
for your love is the sun
that rises each and every day
and like the harvest
in Autumn, the Fall
is a tended love
you know
I am but a tool
in your gardening hands
and a wipe to your brow
and in the seasons
of your love
there is a passing
and cool refreshing
as time brings us
together side by side
to the sunsets
of our love.
