When Mars Fell Asleep (New Poem)
When Mars Fell Asleep
by Tim Kavi
boys want to play army in fields
lined with mines
they walk among their friends' blood
ghosts in the shadows
at your lap o Goddess, sleeping
lies the gods of war
the weapons of war lie at their feet
abandoned as once you were
love has won out in the future of bliss
where shadows walk openly in the sun
and gardens are again planted
in romantic passions of youth revisited
even to the very old
the streets are cleaned of spoils
reminders of the follies of gain
while warlike tribes and leaders think
that nothing lasts of temperate mold
what is without entropy; only the power of love
love has vanquished the dark night of souls
but Mars is only sleeping
may he wake up and find you again and again
your love is everlasting and patient
cities are in your fold
but the bombed out ruins need to be rebuilt
into new shining squares
and the weapons turned into ploughshares
must be cleaned while children
are allowed to be children again.

Long Flight of the Arrow (new poem)
Long Flight of the Arrow
by Tim Kavi
some say they
are desperately seeking
searching like ghosts
master archeologists
among the dust
of ancient landscapes
others are explorers
of every geology
across their paths
but cannot find
the missing Shangri-la
of the utopian plateau
there are the dreamers
the poets
the undying singers
playing lived out melodies
on the shipwrecks of love
and the injustice of it all
but the long flight
of the arrow
finds them anyway
and because it is Cupid's
arrow; all those
missing arms of embrace
find their human place.

'I Know You...Hand in Hand' (new anniversary poem) (Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE Posting 5)
I love You Hand in Hand (new poem)
和老婆手牵手
by Tim Kavi
special times
are these
moments in a history
that flies past
that says
I love you!
each to the other
from their heart
as that love
is the language
of all words expressed
in the fast lanes
of modern life
as we hold onto something
each other
sometimes that richness
is all we've got
but what richness!
precious find
true gold rush
those that truly love
that love would bring
one from two families
two worlds apart
even across the universe
to join
hand in hand
that looking back now
there is still
the joys of discovery
as we see each other
eye to eye
hearts beat
next to each other
in the living security
of all that is
lived out
hand in hand
gentle whispers
may make the moment
seem less sensational
than it is
but in those whispers
are mighty shouts
declarations of love
that say
I know you!
I love you!
hand in hand
that is the
eternal bread
the lasting truth
and the destined
determination to love
to say
we will turn again
to each other
facing all this life
is;
hand in hand.
Poet's Afterword: Posting 5 in my VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE---is a special anniversary poem. And today (Feb. 9th) is the actual anniversary for two very special people. Now, the Chinese have a very special concept that symbolizes the union between two people in love, and this is often stated in English as 'hand in hand'. In this case, the narrator of the poem is specifically the husband to the wife; hence the special 'hand in hand' designation towards the wife-- 和老婆手牵手 .

'Ode to the Handsome Swede' (wedding poem) (Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE: Posting 4)
Ode to the Handsome Swede
by Tim Kavi
humming a sweet song
the poetry
keeps flowing
when across the green hills of Sweden
the wedding party
was going
your sweet melodies
the wind is blowing
bringing sweet incense of perfume
innocence of love
when your smile lit the room
the handsome Swede
was smiling too
as your love
filled
the happy groom
thoughts of peace
and no more
empty homes
two hearts
turned towards
love
and dispelled
the lonely glooms
the handsome Swede
hummed
existential songs
his new bride
had come home
she made ready
a gown of red
adorned
in Chinese love
traditions
had been met
and yet
there was
still
the promise
of even more
for all the glories
their love had
in store
for all the stories
could never be sold
in thousands
of novels
of myths
and legends
every time
their love was told
you see it seems
simple
but no love ever is
they found each other
and that's all
the mystery 'tis
two hearts
thought they had been
left
only to find the other
behind the veil's
cleft
a great love
with wings
flew to him
the handsome Swede
said
and for all
this there
was destiny
forever
plainly read.
Poet's Afterword--For Posting 4 of my VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE daily blogging event to celebrate Valentine's Day we have another wedding poem. This poem celebrates a wedding between two very special friends of mine. It was originally a private poem for the two of them, but 'reappears' here in my blog by their permission. I know you will join me in congratulating the happy couple, who exemplify a wonderful destination of love--a cross cultural and happy marriage across two of the kindest hearts I've ever known.~~T.K.

At a Moroccan Wedding (wedding poem) (Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE! Posting 2)
At a Moroccan Wedding
by Tim Kavi
happy couples
inspire us all
to seize love
face love
in it be tall
and when moments
like this
reward that search
we know
we have loved
powerfully
strongly
and made history
so made brave
by our love
we confidently
face life
together as
husband and wife!
Poet's Afterword: In posting #2 we have a special wedding poem (short but sweet) for a special pair of friends of mine. So to Judy and Abderrahim, I wish you continued happiness in the power of love. You are not only a muse, but a great blessing over the years. You guys have been reading my poems for over six years! And I am so inspired by your great love for each other. One Night of Bliss (New Poem)
One Night of Bliss
by Tim Kavi
oh sweet dying of the light
brings a night;
one night of bliss
some are so sacred
seeing your outline only
in candle light
is your sought for kiss
what visitation
manifestation of Shakti
is this?
Yet in your enduring grace
I saw your Goddess Face
morphing, twisted,
shaped by destiny's calling
sealed by yuanfen's fate
arriving early;
the night's never late
bending time
where do you come from?
how do I know you?
Did I know you?
Did we have love?
I unmistakably know
already; no need to say
for the night is here
ten thousand years to stay
and for one night of bliss
our love is sealed
in eternity's kiss
lest all that is uncertain
dismayed and untrue
causes a swirling river
of chaos in undoing's hue
there is the wee hours
the candle is burning
when in my devotion
every night I seek your face
in joyful returning
make not waste
return my love
return my goddess
please make haste
one night of bliss
again is waiting.

Honey in Sight! (New Poem)
Honey in Sight!
by Tim Kavi
when she walks
and talks
I hear honey dripping
sweet dew is ascendant
from fresh petals
derived from Mother Earth
the dirt smiles
knowing the sweetness
is given
heaven to some
those in flight
line up like eager ones
awaiting sleep in the night
all wonder
the direction
of nearest supply
'tis my love ascendent
winged sweet bringer
of afternoon delight
back to the hive
our minds
all connected
stay in the Queen's
blessings
sweet nectar
stored
until the next flight
I see my love
silhouetted in the gardens
of the world
admiring her art
honey drops
in all her kissing
and hugs to last
a life.

Infinite and Measured. (New Poem)
by Tim Kavi
Infinite.
And measured.
How do you measure
the measureless?
Experience the unfathomable;
live on the arms of the spiral?
You exist
live in it, move in it
breathe in it
smile at Her love
infinite
in every moment
stretching across memories
across all time
in myths, legends and odes
there she frequents
visits, and in complexity
unfolds
around the perfect circled
bend, time moves like a slithering
serpent, making old
robbing us of being bold
but we stand in love
it is infinite
reaches from birth to death
yet measured
in every breath
when I hold Her in You
embraced by your love
I realize in the finite experience
drawn in the hills and valleys
of our joint experience
we have touched
collapsed the circling
around us
bent fragments of infinite
love, we are in finite
measured out
every day
just in your kiss
I know I am loved.

Heavenly Vision (new poem)
Heavenly Vision by Tim Kavi
I am old and tired
I said
Come up hither
she said
I cannot find you
I am right here
I do not see you
my eyes are dimming
out of focus
a white blur
I think it is a dress
she is laughing
looks like she has a crown
daisies in her hair
there is a child with her
they are both laughing
a puppy is gnawing
on a stick nearby
we are having a picnic
there is cheese
toothpicks stick out
of the cheese and meats
and olives
now I am gnawing on a stick too
ahhhhh
all grows into clarity
I look at her
she is smiling
beaming love rays that seem
cloud like
many gardens dot the horizon
I have a new body
we hold hands
the baby is so happy
the dog plays
and fetchs the stick
he looks familar
to me
someone is coming
we are not alone
I tell them I love you
I am a little afraid
their warmth
gets there before they do
we both
know who it is
soon we are all laughing
and playing
incredible happiness
and the day seems to go on
and on
forever
I hold the baby's hand
I realize one must never take
anything for granted
happiness is in
the found love of greeting
and the encounter
of meeting.
