Oh Goddess! You Fill The Earth (new poem)

Oh Goddess! You Fill The Earth (new poem)

by Tim Kavi

Across the withered plains

there are currents in the sand

marks of played-out destinies

gleaming in the desert sun

burning like flames consume a book

my knowledge has become desolate

quaking at the power of Nature

searching with a lapping tongue

looking for, and

desperately seeking

the oceans of your love.

so O goddess

fill the Earth

with the fruits of your being

let the dancers, rejoice

let the singers, sing

and let the poets speak.

for great cedars shall grow

where once it was desolate

and hearts frozen cold

shall beat again; in the power

of your love.

Gaia's Heart (new poem)

Gaia's Heart (new poem)

by Tim Kavi

there was the burning path

crackling in the wind

as I traveled up the mountain

to the shrine of your love

would your love save me

and the rest of us

in this burning world?

awaken, you said with a wink

as your gown flapped in the wind

it is almost too late, humans

your goddess said

Gaia shook with tears as they rolled down her cheeks

Her eyes were darting to and fro

for a friendly face

but there, the world had forgotten

your saving grace

it was almost too late

with urgency and haste

She speaks the message

save the planet

off-worlders may be too late

will Gaia act quickly?

to rebound, and save her living face?

silly humans

she said

as the Earth ripped open and bled

her heart was beating now

but not for long

in your reliance on me

YOU forgot that this was your own undoing

your swan song

change, redeem, reverse

don't just trust engineering

correct your poisonous ways

before it's too late!

I Looked At (new poem)

I LOOKED AT (New Poem)
by Tim Kavi

I looked at
water coming forth
from the rocks
streaming down
the mountainside
becoming a stream
a river
and then a mighty ocean

I looked at
the harbored life
living so small
I could not see
but still believed
becoming greater
swimming lives
across eternity's tide

I looked at
temples burning
incense in blossoms
of lovely surprise
becoming deities
in the smoke
that did arise
winged ministries fly

I looked at
my planet; hoping
for love to save it
some are sleeping
to garden it
to appreciate
Gaia's keeping
to nurture it

I looked at
starry skies
saw many suns
blinking in the night
realizing cosmic scale's
awesome humbling
powers; across the
vast cosmos

I looked at
me; and then You
saw a thunderous
glory in the meeting
of the between
You and I
face to face
in every place

where souls are greeting.

More About Goddesses: Demeter, Greek Goddess (New Essay)

More About Goddesses: Demeter, Greek Goddess (New Essay)
by Tim Kavi
Demeter is known as the Greek goddess of the harvest and fertility. She is known as a goddess of origin, divine order and giver of food. She is also frequently associated with ruling over unwritten law, the law of nature which defines agriculture and civilized society. This can be implied that she helps to control the cycle of life and death, though not all interpretations of the myth of Demeter include this interpretation. Much of the association with Demeter and life and death stems from the myth of her daughter, Persephone who is featured along with Demeter in the Eleusinian mysteries.
The religious writing around Demeter shows her as taking on a variety of different religious functions.  In ancient history, many worshiped her as the “mother earth” or the Great Goddess who oversees the function of agriculture. Many harvesters would worship her, hoping that Demeter would offer her blessing for the work that they completed. Some areas of Greece have found earlier descriptions of Demeter acting as a poppy goddess with the belief that she was responsible for bringing poppies to Eleusis in Crete.
Demeter’s daughter Persephone was said to have been kidnapped by Hades who was looking for a queen to rule beside him in the underworld. Upon realizing that her daughter had been taken, Demeter fell into a deep sense of grief, causing all life on earth to begin dying. To prevent extinction, Zeus sent Hermes to return Persephone to her mother. To prevent this, Hades tricked Persephone into eating a pomegranate which bound her to the underworld. It was agreed that Persephone would spend a third of the year with Hades in the underworld and the remaining time on earth with her mother. This corresponds to the changing of the seasons. As Persephone leaves to perform her duties in the underworld, Demeter falls sad and life dies away in the winter months.

There were several cults that honor Demeter throughout Greece, Sicily and Crete. The ancient cult of Amphictyony on the coast of Thessaly was one of the most well-known of these cults. There is also the festival of Demeter of Mysia. This festival lasts for seven days and passes the shrine to Demeter as the parade moves from Mycenae to Argos. Only a few ancient texts describing this festival have been found so it is unclear how the deity was honored during the festivities.
Another interetsing fact about Demeter as she is presented in mythology (Demeter, who was also known in other terms as 'Ceres') is that she  never wanted to make her abode with other goddesses on Olympus. Rather, she wanted to be down to Earth and abide with her followers and those close to her, in her own temples, as a goddess with them.--TK

Celestial Meadow (new poem)

Celestial Meadow
by Tim Kavi

gentle lands of rest
stretch across maps of peaceful
bliss of grassy green

my feet float on airy paths
of glorious silence
stretching to the horizon
sparse trees dot the place

that beckon to places
of pause and reflection
away from all the stress

away from racing thoughts
not just to survive
but to bravely exist

gentle bluebirds
of my Mother's voice
Gaia would you sing to me?
black crows wait to pick

but I know
that your beauty prevails
you will live longer
than humans have tread

oh pray
they will not kill you dead
for in your silence
they gravely mistake
you are not there

but there is only
too much noise
to hear you and be blest

but at moments like this
I only can gently walk
on the pillows
of your endowment

in the shadows of forest
and the paths of wooded trail
the stream flows nearby

into the ocean it flows
goes to the clouds
descends to the earth again
born again

to live again
and to see your glory
in forest, and stream
celestial meadows
where I see all my friends

playing again.

Gaia--Not to Touch the Earth (new poem)

GAIA--Not to Touch the Earth (Poem)
by Tim Kavi

Gaia
speaking messages
not heard
there is quaking
terrible shaking

ridges of trembled history
continental drifts
of worries of collapsed kingdoms

underneath changing
geographies
of postpartum birthing
memories of the way things were

before flags were planted
before urban density
throwaways of modern and postmodern
plastics

filtered the purpose
of your message
but we still try
to touch you

to touch the Earth
to know your glory
to esteem and respect
to be moved by all

that you are.
we long to respect you
goddess

before it's too late.

Valley of Moon (New Poem)

Valley of Moon
by Tim Kavi

in the valley
of moon the jade flute sings.

You are my sun at sunrise
and my ocean at the beach stretching endlessly.

I wake up and look out my window
Spring has come and I see where
your love has been
busy as everything is growing now
it has even dripped a misty rain on the lilacs
in our garden now

there is a purpose to all that is living
to appreciate the rain you brought
to give thanks for the food we had sought
for your nourishment is never empty and never brings drought.

cracked and dry earth is no longer parched
the flowers in the dirt bear pretty designs
that which ate and destroyed is kept silent and lifeless
captured and dead before your loving eyes.

So let Nature and I be dancing
let the stars swing by me
I am tapping on the Earth with lively feet
dancing in the romance of your love that reaches
so that wherever I go is never dragging
my spirit is freed in space and time
I will get there yesterday and tomorrow
for everywhere I am alive!

and lest you think I am joking
I closed my window blinds and sensing your presence had filled the room
I saw the dark place full of light
and I know now that even when you come and go
every moment I am never alone
and I am always loved, sweet valley of moon
I play the jade flute now

tomorrow I am your happy groom.

Spring Birds of Love (new poem)

Spring Birds of Love
by Tim Kavi

pushing up through
the earth
petals leaves
beauties revealed
no longer concealed

singing creatures
of creation

screaming
beaming
responses to
food from the heavens
revealed

we see
the design
and manifestations
of Spring

sweet Notes
of Nature
transfixed there
as I beheld
her love
like Nature's
is a great care

the goddess

she is kissing me back
in the beauty
of our song

our feathers
are soft and sheen
never wrong

her Love
guides me
to a softer place

a nest
in her love
for we have
become the spring birds

outside
her window

free and in flight!

and in that soft glow
I saw her
that day
a sweet gentle dove
a singing robin
a mother bird
a sweet eagle
a flying
sure path
of her love

leading us back
migration
of two souls
finding
each other
again and again

through all time
for she is my mate
and in our bird call
is the precious
sounds of our love

a sweet wooing
a cooing
of love birds
hearts broken
when apart

but always
coming together
in one heart!

we fly away
some day
together
at the next dawning

into the sun
together
forever
even
when our lives
are done!

knowing a purpose
a plan
an understanding
that first
brought me to you
and you to me
the surety
the blessing

of that smiling!

Spring birds of love!
a love
so pure
that Nature itself
yearns for
and is made complete
in those birds
singing!

outside her window
we are there now
free and fit
in bodies destined
in spirits
unfettered and free !
