Quantum Lighthouse (new poem)

Quantum Lighthouse (new poem)
by Tim Kavi

folded origami

I jumped across
the parsecs that stretched
for millions of kilometers
across space and time
intersecting spectral lines
on a cosmic chess board

I walked like one of those ships
reeling towards my life
going by far too quickly now
there is in the shadows lurking
a fearful sight
baffling revelations of science

meeting myself in the cosmic night.

Goddess in the Light (New Poem)

Goddess in the Light (New Poem)

by Tim Kavi

O radiant muse,

whose footstep wakes the sleeping stars,

your presence bends the winds with reverence—

you are more than myth,

you are motion,

you are meaning.

Crowned in moonbeams,

your eyes are galaxies that knew love

before time dared its ticking.

Even silence bows when you speak,

each syllable a sacred bell

calling truth to prayer.

Not marble, not mist,

but the fierce fire of becoming,

you are woman—

and therefore, you are the world

before it was named.

I dare not call you only beautiful—

for beauty, next to you,

is a candle before the sun.

You are creator,

healer,

keeper of the lost seasons—

goddess, not made by man

but remembered by soul.

When I touch your thought,

I kneel

not in worship of form

but of essence,

for your spirit is the altar

where wisdom wears a smile.

Teach me,

not to possess,

but to witness.

Not to conquer,

but to cherish.

Let me be

the echo to your breath,

the pen that knows its muse.

Eternal she,

who walks in both thunder and peace,

I write you not in ink—

but in awe.

In the inkless poetry of honor.

In the name that needs no name:

Goddess.

I dance in sacred night

move with cosmic wind

to greet you and meet you

standing ever

in a steadfast love.

Your resolute grace

moves the world

and moves my longing heart.

gentle crossings (new poem)

gentle crossings (Poem)
by Tim Kavi

oceans apart
with undersea caverns
and trenches of hope

breaking through
to the surfaces
woke up

I searched for the radiance
of understanding
compassionate dreams

a beam in darkened night
beckoning, no, calling
across the tides

of recognition
I am seeking Her
She that guides me

prayers, mudras
esteeming my quest
my heart turns West

where it seems She
is not present
will it be Kali or Aphrodite?

no, it is a gentle one
touching my heart
healing my soul

in her shy, healing light.

The Lighthouse (new poem)

The Lighthouse (new poem)

by Tim Kavi

walking among the parsecs that stretched

for miles across the horizon

there was the resolute resounding

of a lighthouse calling me always

back to home

whether choppy seas of wandering

crafts briefly lost in the foggy night

gathered hopes for their approach

to the shorey home's delight

away from the unsettling speech

of those sirens who called out

in the unconscious darkness of the sea

bidding all that sail a place to go to

in the twinkling starlight

a compass back to safe harbors

I walked like one of those ships

reeling towards my life

going by far too quickly now

there is in the shadows lurking

a fearful sight

meeting myself in the cosmic night.

Crying in the Night (New Poem)

Crying in the Night
by Tim Kavi

screeching in the night
calling out in darkness
searching the hidden
for any hope
of dawning light

crying

the Owl of Athena
looks over the fields
the fields of the world
are stained
crimson with the blood
of many peoples
from many lands

She is ashamed
at what is done in many names
adds to the horror
of the great many acts
of fear and terror
the dismantling of honor

She says
Intolerance is Murder
the council of elders
replies with judgmental sighs
must we tolerate evil?

She says
there is still a way
to define what something is
when one finds the words to say
any doctrine
teaching far and wide

that murder is right
that stealing from another
killing the heart of the Other
chaining the spirits
of those who long to be free

is justifiable

then we know what is evil
and in all cases who or what
can be truly not tolerated
and must be abolished
in the hearts of all

who joined in community
who empowering the disenfranchised
realize what is wrong
or what is right

makes the day bring light

So the Owl of Athena
blinks her eyes at what She sees
in the darkened night

she will still watch the world
as a New Year approaches
but taking hold of hope
and changes in our hearts
see to it that She need not abandon Earth
in Her celestial flight.

Towards the golden Light, Unknown Goddess (new poem)

Towards the golden Light, Unknown Goddess
by Tim Kavi

When in all your going
you had escaped
freedom's grasp
slavery seemed your undoing

the country was collapsing
farms and crops dust
food was rotting on the docks
your neighbor's fields a battlefield

there was hurrying and scurrying
hiding and fleeing
you taught yourself
in the darkness
no man was there seeing

you had no rights
where governments
led you to paths
of new meanings
always ignored

but you are
the truest goddess
your ego smashed
and destroyed
ruined temples unexplored

it was then
after you woke up
that the weapons all broke
that the all knowing
were silenced

and you walked down
the road
your golden light
revealing yourself as the
Goddess you always knew
you really are.

Certain Orbs Lit by You (New Poem)

Certain Orbs Lit by You
by Tim Kavi

well there is nothing
known that is not already known
inside you

there is all the universe
in a flowery petal
or grain of sand

orbits of meaning
searching for celestial reason
revealing

known truths
certain revelations
curtains pulled back

in the eyes of the Other
in manifold states
of being

I only know
that You see something
too

and I long to hear
it in your quavering
singing voice

even as you grow
as old and young
as existence itself
I hear the singing
wisdom in all that you
express

for you are
the clouds of all meaning
drifting across the Uni verse

and your love
lights all the orbs.

In the Dark, Your Light (New Poem)

In the Dark, Your Light
by Tim Kavi

sometimes
I might find you
looking back at me
when I think you did not see
me smiling
at the goddess inside you

projecting outward
as the light of the world
for She is just the woman
inside of you

smiling
caring for babies
healing the sick
caring for everyone
every day

lost in the world
there is the darkening
of your image
the vastness of despair
but your light
pierces it in the still
of the world's midnight.

More About Goddesses: Aphrodite and the Story of Eros and Psyche (new column) (Tim Kavi's VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE: Posting 9)

Aphrodite observes Eros & Psyche (classical view)

More about Goddesses: Aphrodite and the Story of Eros and Psyche
by Tim Kavi

Aphrodite is often hailed as the goddess of beauty, love, procreation and pleasure. She is also hailed as the protector of sailors as she was born from the sea foam. Aphrodite is the daughter of Zeus and Dione, making her one of the most vital goddesses in Greek mythology.

Given her nature, Aphrodite is a very personal and intimate goddess, invading the secret places of her followers and remaining close to those that are loyal to her. She can easily bring about a feeling of wonder and magic, particularly encouraging a natural feminine power, but Aphrodite is also capable of deceiving the heart when exalting the sensuality of a couple’s union as she sees fit.

The nature of Aphrodite and her ability to manipulate the magical or deceptive side of sensuality is noted in her son Eros’s union with Psyche. Eros is the god of passionate sexual love while Psyche was a princess that was so beautiful that many treated her like a goddess. Some would even make sacrifices or perform symbolic gestures in her name, which caused much jealousy among the other goddesses, particularly Aphrodite.

In her jealousy, Aphrodite sent her son Eros to put a spell on Psyche, making her fall in love with the ugliest man on the Earth. When Eros arrived, he was so stunned by Psyche’s beauty that he accidentally pricked himself with one of his magical arrows, falling in love with her instantly. Feeling guilty for his deeds, Eros worked to undo the spell and then left. Enraged that her son could not manage this deed, Aphrodite cast a similar spell to seal Psyche’s fate.

Concerned that their daughter would marry a monster, they summoned the Fates. They told her parents to take her to a mountain to leave her for her beastly betrothed. Her parents eventually obliged, and Psyche was left on the mountain in her sorrow. Seeing her tears, Zephyr the West Wind took her away to a lush forest in the valley below. Here she wandered until she found a palace with invisible servants and an invisible lover that would care for her.

Psyche was welcome to enjoy these benefits so long as she only united with her lover in darkness. After much time together, Psyche could no longer manage her curiosity and lit a candle to see her lover, Eros. Hurt by her suspicions, Eros flew away. Psyche’s suspicions show the conscience’s unwillingness to live with a relationship surrounded in darkness. Given this impossible task, Psyche appealed to Aphrodite asking to be reunited with Eros with no conditions.

Aphrodite conceded, provided Psyche enter the underworld and place a drop of Persephone’s beauty in a box. Persephone is known as the beauty of the depths because she was taken down to the Underworld to be the bride of Hades. Determined to be reunited with her lover, Psyche completed this final task, achieving a state where the dark anonymity of her previous love and the divine, personal aspects of love could merge.

Eros and Psyche were given one of few wedding ceremonies given in the presence of all the gods on Olympus. The gods celebrated this new union with a great feast that celebrated the union of the soul, and Eros, the representation of sexual love. At this blessed union, Aphrodite danced in celebration.

Poet's Afterword:  Appropriate for Valentine's Day, today's blog celebrates the balanced love of Psyche and Eros (aka Cupid) --the love that came to light in complete openness and blissful reunion.  A love that Aphrodite and the enitre Greek pantheon celebrated. This concludes the First Annual VALENTINES BE MINE FOR NINE daily blogging celebration leading up to Valentine's Day.  However, there will be a special Valentine's Day poem posted tomorrow. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to all of my readers--may your lives be filled with love and loving others. My writings and love poems are always an encouragement to love--for life is just too short for anything else.~~TK

Now, Speaking the Truth (New Poem)

Now, Speaking the Truth
by Tim Kavi

now, speaking the truth
life has in past times
seemed easier
and sometimes
it is so hard;
who can deny it?

yet, as long as there is injustice
as long as there's any hope of love

one cannot be silent
or tears will water the earth
and we must be born
many times in rebirth

gentle Guan Yin
you make me shine with your light
nothing can remain
in a distant night

all is plain
all is bright
revelation is the poetic
sight

there are those so mistreated
although they chant
your love entreated

I am talking about your sisters
Quan Yin
all around the Earth
longing for Freedom
to be treated as persons

they long to be
safe wherever they go
hold them close in your arms
or my tears cannot stop

I am sorry my Goddess
for many of my gender are a disgrace
I can only hope your love
lights this evil place

something must be done
Durga, shine the truth
Kali, try not to be too angry now

I try to hope our history
will end bright
so I write this poem crying

while all around us
Goddess, your sisters are dying

so my pitiful voice
is joined with brothers and sisters
in peace and for peace
who line the streets
Jantar Mantar

our clothes are black
and I say to you in power
we want our Freedom back!

Ma Durga, great mother
Isis, protector of children
save us before too late
waves of your Goddess face

wash ashore
in the hearts of all
embraced by your grace

now, we speak the truth
we need you more than ever

this guilty Earth
longs to know only You
and the gentle love where

all rest in a peaceful fate.

More About Goddesses: Lakshmi puja (New Essay)

More About Goddesses: Lakshmi puja
By Tim Kavi

Lakshimi puja is a ritual celebrated during Diwali, or the festival of lights. The ritual is dedicated to showing propitiation and devotion to Lakshimi, the goddess of fortune, wealth, prosperity and the embodiment of beauty. Lakshimi is known to bring good luck to her believers and devotees, rescuing them from money troubles and other miseries. She is frequently worshiped and honored as a goddess of wealth in commercial establishments or homes. Lakshimi is also honored as the consort of Vishnu, which has endowed her with six divine qualities.

Because Laskhimi is seen as one who takes light in, she is an important figure in the Diwali festival. It is said that those looking to honor the goddess would light lanterns outside their home in hopes that they would draw the Laskhimi in to bless them. The third day of Diwali is the most important day of Lakshmi puja because the sun will enter its second course, allowing Libra to assist with the balancing the books and closing records, bringing Laskhimi additional power to bless her followers. The first days of this festival are also celebrated with drums and bells to represent the “pouring in” of the heart, expressing the thanks for the many blessings and prosperity Lakshmi has brought.

A number of elements are considered essential to the rite of celebrating Lakshmi puja. In the temples, a cloth is placed across a raised platform and an alter is made with grains, pitchers made from terracotta, gold, silver or copper, a dish of rice grains, a lotus flower drawn in turmeric and an idol of Lakshimi surrounded by coins. The idol is bathed in water and panchamrit, followed by a second bath in water infused with gold or pearls. She is then wiped clean and the water is sprinkled on the turmeric lotus to invoke the goddess. Businesses may include books related to their profession around the altar as well as these traditional elements.
Households will place a lantern or make offerings of kumkum, flowers or haldi to the goddess. Offerings of cotton beads, flowers such as marigolds, apple wood, sandal paste, perfume and sandal paste are also frequently offered. After these initial offerings are given, incense is lit to purify the altar. Then a second offering of fruits, coconut, sweets, tambul, puffed rice, coriander, cumin and batasha are given. These elements are not to be mixed with the honey or jewelry on the altar out of respect to Lord Kuber.

Prayers to Lakshmi are frequently recited during the Lakshmi puja celebration. Groups will perform aarti for the goddess, though these celebrations are often quieter than traditional celebrations as Lakshmi is not fond of loud noises. Instead, small bells are used to accompany the prayers and aarti. Unlike aarti that are performed for other gods, groups should not clasp hands when performing this ritual, nor should firecrackers be set off during or after the puja. Homes should strive to keep a sublime, peaceful and comforting atmosphere out of respect to the goddess and her celebration during Diwali.

Someday, Goddess, Someday (new poem)

Someday, Goddess, Someday
by Tim Kavi

someday
I will walk these steps
for the final time
traverse these stairs
look out the windows
of my soul

it will be the end of this
body; in that approaching night
when the lights of your temple
seems distant
and I cannot climb the hill
to your heart anymore

some said I have done good
some even said I have done bad
but it is in my words that remain
that is all that needs to be said

a testament of your love
that I am loved when I did not deserve it
that I am hugged when I am most profane
I remain a lowly man
in a lowly body

but in your love
my soul shines bright
there is hope for the time
I am given

until that day I depart
this body
and approach the white light

someday, Goddess, someday
I will not then ever be
snatched from your love.

Mantra, Mudra, Candle, Vow (New Poem)

Mantra, Mudra, Candle, Vow
by Tim Kavi

barely able to speak
I saw the coming of the light
It came through my windows
in the unconscious night

Speaking your Holy Name
you arose like the sweet mist
and dropped like cleansing rain
in your power, I am not the same

Shakti saving grace
orders and destroys all the same
until all is forgotten
no more blame
collapsing in sweet refrain
unendable expanding space

In mantra I speak your holy name

shuddering
as if under great cold
the heat of your love reached
from the furthest places
I thought you were removed
until in gentle assurances
I saw you teach me
the Ways of your graceful love

just a wave of your hand
laying on of hands
It was You healing the lost
the sick, dying embers
of once what was a living soul
made whole; lives again

my taught hands by you
move in the mudra
of your graceful appearing
in the school of love

they wave in your light
burning candles all through the night
tended by those that seek you
your flames never go out

shadows dancing on the walls
flickering across the street
across my mind
then the universe bends to the images
that travel throughout
instantaneously faster than the light
of your candles burning
in the great hall

they are slow
but You are not
You are everywhere at once
walking through walls

on bended knees
prostrated before your ordaining
there is only the calls
to answer to the vow
I just made.

Table at the Mountain (New Poem)

Table at the Mountain
by Tim Kavi

Lo, I hear the inward light
of your voice whispering in the wind
it illuminates my darkened
and decayed soul
that I thought was near death
and beyond redemption

your love found me
you breathed your breath
into me
and my bones lived!

I stand at the bottom of the mountain
No way to climb fast
the naysayers and mockers
all make sport of my prayers
their ref'use and stinking ways
are offenses to your seeking heart

I know you love me
although I do not deserve it
I call to you
and your singing voice falls from heaven

Is that Olympus, or Kailash, or Horeb
or even Sinai?
where you burned my lips
with the hot coals
and some thought you wore a male guise?

you slipped between the rocks
and lived at the top
waiting with patience
help me come to you dear

I hear
you have prepared a table
on the rocks of the summit

in your heavenly eyes
and your wonderful ever loving heart

you loved me
restored me
and brought peace to my crying heart.

Valley of Moon (New Poem)

Valley of Moon
by Tim Kavi

in the valley
of moon the jade flute sings.

You are my sun at sunrise
and my ocean at the beach stretching endlessly.

I wake up and look out my window
Spring has come and I see where
your love has been
busy as everything is growing now
it has even dripped a misty rain on the lilacs
in our garden now

there is a purpose to all that is living
to appreciate the rain you brought
to give thanks for the food we had sought
for your nourishment is never empty and never brings drought.

cracked and dry earth is no longer parched
the flowers in the dirt bear pretty designs
that which ate and destroyed is kept silent and lifeless
captured and dead before your loving eyes.

So let Nature and I be dancing
let the stars swing by me
I am tapping on the Earth with lively feet
dancing in the romance of your love that reaches
so that wherever I go is never dragging
my spirit is freed in space and time
I will get there yesterday and tomorrow
for everywhere I am alive!

and lest you think I am joking
I closed my window blinds and sensing your presence had filled the room
I saw the dark place full of light
and I know now that even when you come and go
every moment I am never alone
and I am always loved, sweet valley of moon
I play the jade flute now

tomorrow I am your happy groom.

Longing For You (New Poem)

Longing For You
by Tim Kavi

In my longing for you
I hear my own sighs
my woeful realization
reflected in those
sad green eyes

In my longing for you
I think I'm ill fated
arrived too late to know
Found I'm out dated

In my longing for you
I thought I'm going places
so lost and alone
in a sea of Asian faces

they all look at me

Can't you see
I'm the only one here
so suffering
let me be

In my longing for you
there is no saving
In my hungry heart
only a craving

for a love to be found

so I am turning
to the sacred ground
of meeting
and I am burning

but I cannot see you
behind the tears
of green eyes

in the distance
sleepless night
I think I see
the discovery of my sight

green eyes
full of light

you are approaching
in meeting

cosmic You.

The Seeing (new poem)

The Seeing
by Tim Kavi

in gentleness of whispers
in shouts of revelation
the visiting goddess
brought herself
to the valleys of purpose

in the night
there is always
cosmic light

behind the doors
marked daring

there was certainly
a blind devotee
staring

and in the songs
a fruit of devotion
was doting
and caring

such things as this

were wondering
wooing
and moving

until he saw her
again

she was there
for the revealing
of all that was needed

your love
completes me
he said

your songs
greet me
she said

and that was
the end of night.

soft eyes (new poem)

soft eyes
by Tim Kavi

soft eyes
your sweet lingering
ways
are soothing
paths to
a great everlasting
kiss

that breathes
out
enlightenment

your confident speech
fills my universe
with warm sighs

and in the blanket covering both of us
there is no disguise

of your sweet
soft eyes

and in the cosmic replies
there is always
the music
of a thousand
seeking searching
ways to see
and to know love

if one just looks
if one just is
and dares to let
her light shine

there is beaming
truth so wise

always behind
those beautiful
soft eyes.

Poet's Suggestion: If you liked this poem, there is another poem on this blog, just about a woman's eyes. Click Here.   Afterword:  This poem is about a shy woman (stanza 7) hence the tentative photo, but still the endearing soft eyes.

you are goddess there (new poem)

you are goddess there
by Tim Kavi

you are?
goddess there

existing
in flight
brought to Earth
in shining light

gentle breeze
fragrance sweet
turning to see
I saw a glimpse
at second sight

speeding
through space
and time

my eyes cannot
focus
to understand
revelations
of you

my heart
seeks you
in a love
that is not hollow

but full
and living
yet I cannot follow

waiting for you
to swim in you
join in your stream

I awoke
bathed in the sun
at the beach
I thought a dream

but I see you
beckoning
I want to meet you
there will
be a reckoning

Goddess
I know you are
there
calling me

I am yearning
in you
the response

of the one
not yet free.
