Battlefield Winds (Poem)

"Battlefield Winds"
by Tim Kavi

can you smell it in the wind
it's love
wafting
over lost battlefields
one man's soul
found you

searching alone
his bloodstained
eyes
looking for hope
scanning
the horizon
endlessly

the fumes
of death
almost
overcome him
strangling his
soul

at his feet
lies his
beaten
weaponry

no man stood
not even him

in the distance
was a shadow
moving brooding
over the earthen landscape

her hands outstretched
to the bleeding
and dying
many arms
of compassion
mercy
and grace

Goddess
his soul was crying
for you
angel of love
he was seeing you

redemption's song
was long overdue

her long dress
flapped
in the smoky wind
while
aching healing
sounds
cascaded from her lips

descending
to his heart
knowing he
would never be
the same

he had
forgotten
his warrior
name

taken back
dancing in the streets
your love had made
him whole

sweet angel of love
your man
waits for you

and he is
not tiring
longing for you
nor dying

as he
once believed

in your
arms he is
forever free.
