Meadow's Mourning (new poem)

"Meadow's Mourning"
by Tim Kavi

Overlooking a battlefield's view at sunrise

There was a gentle breeze
surrounding all the sounds
they had ever made

breathing those sacred movements
there was light seen
made visible in lives lived
through the trees

while our tears fell
We vowed to never forget
our fallen ones
brothers and sisters
lost in the gleaming steam of war

where the Spirit lives
our love for them lingers
in bountiful gratitude
of freedom's flow
there are smiles to the unbounded
that take us in the purchased glow

of the morning's
visits to the memories
of pleasant companions
of all meaning
remembrances in our mournings of sorrow.

AFTERWORD: A poem in appreciation of those who serve and served, on Veteran's Day. In remembrances of the wounded and those serving, and how we all recall those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. (This includes my great uncle Frank, whose plane went down in the English Channel during The Battle of Britain. He was a volunteer American Air Force pilot). ~~TK

Yet the Goddess Hid Her Face (New Poem)

"Yet the Goddess Hid Her Face"

by Tim Kavi

In the Autumn morning before it was brought to light,
the cisterns had all been lit
the corners had all been swept.

Ophelia and Psyche had cleaned the room
it was then the song had a sacred cleft;
for in the Song, an ancient ode was written;
a homage to the Groom.

But behind the tambourine
a Goddess still hid her face.

Uttering the Song
The ancient Greek chorus stood as one,
at the Oracle's place in Delphi
their words mocked the gloom
for there was one much more precious
than was reflected in that night's Moon
the annals of history came and went
but the Goddess still hid her face.

The blustering winds of Furies
bashed many heroes' hopes
Even the great ones, laid among
the chains and ropes;
climbing the rocks they labored,
but to seek some redemption
they only looked to masculine selves
while the Goddess still hid her face!

Anointed with olive oil,
Athena's wisdom dripped from the vases
of Panathenaic paint, given to those skilled
in cunning ways of competitive fight
who are found in prowess, and did not faint!

Yet the Goddess still hid her face!

Then when the journey's nearly over
swords and shields in disarray
heroes sought divine help
in a homecoming not so nice
forgotten heroes;
their deeds did not suffice
to turn the cold hearts
for their exploits seemed forgotten
mythologies and old;

She began to show her face!

a smiling face that finally led
her heroes home;
by her shining grace
protected in a mist
until all is revealed

in a love so true
the seeker sought his wife
until seeking, what is found,
in unblinded eyes, scales fell;

for She now has a fully revealed face.

In the Mist (new poem)

In the Mist
by Tim Kavi

In the mist of that new morning
I knew nothing
(ecstatic quieting bliss)
no thing
Was more elaborate than this

to be loved
to be kissed
to be missed

by that that is without
by Her that loves

Those that imagine they have everything
might not even have this.

Near the Rhododendron (Poem with Poet's Comments)

Near the Rhododendron
by Tim Kavi

when in
the silent branches
of beautiful
rhododendron
the sun rose

morning dew
drops
clung to
your branches

Nature's
smile
was at
your morning
beauty

Yet the branches
supported
the beautiful
flowers

Nature had
prepared
you
for a wonder
of unveiling

planted firmly
in the soul
your roots
dug deep

living
and breathing
creeping
and revealing

You were
as pretty
as She

lying there
on the blanket
in the Golden
Sun

Nature clung
to You, Goddess
the best
planting

ever seen.

Poet's comments:
This is another devotional poem on my recurrent theme of the Goddess (woman, femininity) in Nature. Here, we are once again reminded that as much as Nature takes care of a beautiful flowering plant, supports it, and it thrives in great beauty, so it is with eternal woman. In the end She is the best planting, more beautiful, and embraced by and clung to by Nature itself. I often use definitive terms in my poetry through the use of capitalization, for example whenever I capitalize 'You' I am referring to an encounter with an otherness, that is so special, so unique, it is an address and response to a particular person, wherever that Goddess nature is so revealed. It is the You of You and Me or I and Thou once again. It is the You encountered in dialogue and full revealing at the moment of encounter. This is the moment of revelation, a perception of the dawning of the day, a day where the sun shines and lights up the beautiful rhododendron, but as powerfully, a day of a woman's revealing.--T.K.
