Yours To Keep (New Poem)

Yours to Keep (new poem)
by Tim Kavi

walking with you

I awakened from sleep

you led me to your truths

loving you deeply, I realized

I am yours to keep,

I uttered this to the world:

mothers of compassion

why do you weep?

gather the chicks in your wings

are there no willing souls

to waken from sleep?

have not your sayings

remained spoken?

or is the Goddess story

only now unfolding?

hasten their token!

mighty lessons

bring a mystic pleasure

while war abounds

you speak peace

with truce as your treasure!

sisters of compassion

bind the wounds

of the healing ground

of beings united

in being found

draw the water

out of cistern

and ocean

with graceful love

your only potion

lovers of compassion

do you not seek

a gentility of truth

in how you love

the truth to speak!

for only in that ground

of grace that I do wed

will I walk a certain

path, finally. a restful bed

has not your heart bled?

To hold all of us closer

is the answered prayers

of the doting Mothers

hearing all that is said

casting all of our cares?

do we not call out?

do we not cry out?

answer swiftly

the sacred call

to help, enlighten all!

Goddesses in Plain View: Listen To Your Mother and Grandmother Too! (New Essay)

Goddesses in Plain View: Listen To Your Mother and Grandmother Too (an essay from the heart) by Tim Kavi

Long-time readers and new readers, I hope too, realize that I write a lot about Goddesses and that I am writing in reverence, about archetypes (in a mythological and Jungian perspective) that can empower men and women alike, (as well as all persons), respecting mythology, and the tradition and empowerment of matriarchy over patriarchy.

Thus, I come before you with an essay that reminds us that goddesses are not as distant in history and development as one might think. Indeed, there is a strong mother goddess tradition in many traditions, as well as the older woman as a wise and guiding spirit. But these are not just abstractions or archetypes of the realization of potential. They are lived out realities manifesting themselves in personality cores and collective memories as long as there has been storytelling and nurturing.

Likewise, local manifestations of many goddesses may be much nearer than you think, perhaps embodied in your own mother, grandmother, mother-in-law,  wife, or a woman who is special to you, including heroines. But it is the mothering goddess I emphasize today. And as you might know, my own mother and grandmother are very, very, special to me. I have often written about my grandmother and mother, who penned poems about family life as an inspiration. And in many ways, they have instructed me throughout my life, even though they have both passed, their goddess natures and guidance still speak to me. When they do, I must listen with careful attention! Sometimes they are at the seashore, sometimes in the mountains, sometimes in a quiet whisper, sometimes in a heart tug of direction, and sometimes even in my dreams.

The following list shows how the mother goddess can be Jungian archetypes:

Psychological Meaning (Carl Jung Archetypes)

The following goddesses represent deep universal patterns:

Creation instinct

Maternal protection

Life–death cycles

Emotional nurturing

Cosmic origin

These appear independently across cultures because they reflect fundamental human experience of motherhood and existence itself.

The next few charts outline many mother-type goddesses. (Forgive me for exclusions, as there are many more than I can list here.

To The World at Christmas 2025 (Revisited*) (New Poem)

To The World at Christmas (Revisited*) 2025

by Tim Kavi

Across the winter sky

a quiet star blossoms—

not in thunder,

but in the soft breath

of a mother

holding all creation

to her heart.

In the glory of all that is

She is the Light-Bearer,

the ancient promise,

the whisper that says:

even in cold seasons,

love stirs beneath the frost.

Tonight, the world pauses.

Hoping that war rests its weary hands,

Sorrow leans upon the doorframe,

and for a moment

we remember

we are one family

searching for warmth.

O luminous Mother of Peace,

wrap this trembling planet

in your shawl of dawn.

In the glory of all that is

Teach us again

how gentle strength can be,

how even a single candle

can send shadows fleeing.

And may every heart—

no matter how wounded—

feel the small spark within

begin to glow again,

bright enough

to guide us home.

This is the gift of Christmas:

that love returns,

again and again,

like a star reborn—

calling us

to rise with it.

To find ourselves again in grace and glory.

*POET'S AFTERWORD: I originally drafted an earlier version of a Christmas poem with this same title in 2013. The two poems are distinct, but the message is the same: hope and love, and a longing for peace. You can see the earlier poem here: https://timkavi.blogspot.com/2013/12/to-world-at-christmas-new-poem.html . Namaste! ~~TK

Great Mothers (new poem)

Great Mothers

by Tim Kavi

for all those who live
and for those who hope
one, may be found

it is written
mothers of the heroes
eternally reside
in echoing songs
of glorious triumph

sirens lost in the mist
overshadowed by her
who truly leads
to the harbor of home

goddesses in full reveal
their mighty garments
in queenly rise
contained in love's mighty fist

held steadfast
earth's children and young
taught in persevering ways
of love

instructed across
the oceans of space and time
lessons never forgot
coming in the clouds
of judgment's might

smashing injustice
assuring fairness
and freeing all who hurt
above the final abyss

there is the way made
plain and sure
teeth of dragon dulled
sickle of wheat, harvested
and put away

death and famine
are stopped by an angel
with humanity's kiss

journey of the swift
to provide aid and assist
to all who are heroes
and bravely exist

walking surely
hand in hand
to paths higher up

mothers of the heroes
eternally reside.

artist's afterthought: this poem, written last year on my own mother's birthday (8-21) and shared here to celebrate Mother's Day--is a homage to great mothers everywhere, Jung's Great Mother archetype--and the history of all moms and their enduring love who instruct all of us; heroes to exist. The last line and elsewhere in the poem--reveals an acrostic: mothers of the heroes eternally reside--where the first letter of each word gratefully & lovingly spells M-O-T-H-E-R. ~~TK.

There is Mom --Poem for Mother's Day With Photo (Poem)

There is Mom
by Tim Kavi

so what is this?
across the translucent orb
endless universe so vast
that God in his designs
would seek to make perfect
for sure to last?

but the need for what was created
man or woman
to never be alone?

but the sacredness
of family
of love
and of home?

and in that home
stands a sacred one
sure and true

the fortress of Mom

which every kid
growing up, knew
is true blue
in all she said
and did

until around
every troubled bend
twisted by life's
troubles
and uncertain wind?

there is the love
of God
and the love of Mom

gently guiding
assisting in fate
but always loving

there is Mom
there is Mom.

(This is a reprint of a poem that has been on this blog before on Mother's Day.  It is a very special poem as it was written for my own mother in 2010, and I read it at her Memorial Service in 2010.  Moms are very special and I am very lucky to have had a great mom who was always very special and as a child and adult--took care of me in so many ways!~~TK)
